A bit about me
Sometimes in life, we can be afraid to walk through the doors of opportunity that appear before us; that’s what it was like when God invited me to become a pastor at our church. When you’re obedient to God’s call, that’s when you impact those around you.
My working life has included being a professional tennis player, sports journalist, manufacturer, property developer, business owner, and real estate, agent. I can say with certainty that God had somehow brought all those things together to prepare me for ministry. I remember so many times when I was doing ‘pastoral’ work in my workplaces without realising it. God was drawing me to ministry, even before I knew it and now as I enter my 9th year in full-time ministry, I have an increased expectancy that God is going to touch the life of every person that I have the privilege of meeting.
I’ve called Riverlife my home since the first weekend I stepped foot in Australia 25 years ago when Geraldine and I moved from South Africa with our three daughters in January 1995. They’re all grown up now and have found amazing husbands. Our family dinners are never dull with our brood of 10 grandchildren!
Most defining moment
I had a life-changing encounter with God in 2008 where I was truly transformed. After that, I laid it all down and started letting God paint the picture for my life. Ever since then, experiencing deeper intimacy with God has been a priority for me.
Why I do it
I long to see others also experience the Father’s love and draw close to Him.
