“I long to draw closer to God and experience fresh peace from Him every day.”

Sometimes in life, we can be afraid to walk through the doors of opportunity that appear before us. That’s what it was like when God invited me to become a pastor at our church.

It’s amazing what happens when you decide to step through the door. When you’re obedient to God’s call, that’s when you impact those around you.

Over my life, I’ve gone from professional tennis player, to sports journalist, to manufacturer, to business owner, to real estate agent. I can say God has somehow brought all those things together to prepare me for ministry. I remember so many times when I was doing ‘pastoral’ work out in my workplaces, without realising it. God was drawing me to ministry, even before I knew.

I had a life-changing encounter with God in 2008 where I was truly transformed. After that, I laid it all down and started letting God paint the picture for my life. Ever since then, experiencing deeper intimacy with God has been a priority, and I long to see others also experience the Father’s love and draw close to Him.

My desire is to see our community receive healing and restoration from God as they are nurtured with honour. During those times I’ve most tangibly felt God’s presence, a sense of ‘family’ and belonging have been very real. That’s why creating a safe community of believers is so important to me.

I’ve called Riverlife my home since the first weekend I stepped foot in Australia 25 years ago. My wife, Geraldine, and I moved from South Africa with our three daughters in January 1995. They’re all grown up now and have found amazing husbands. Our family dinners are never dull with our ever-growing brood of grandchildren with our 9th arriving just before Christmas!
