Day 12 | The Cross
Matthew 16:24-28
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

In response to this passage, I’ve written a song about the incredible sacrifice of Jesus, in pouring out His body for us.
How can we understand and comprehend the depths of His love for us?
When we stop to remember, it makes taking up our cross a privilege and our only response.
VINEYARDS OF MERCY // Jona Peck
Your body like a broken window for the world to see.
Your blood poured out from the vineyards of mercy.
They took you away, put you in a tomb of stones.
But three days later there was nothing but your folded clothes.
How to comprehend, how to understand this love?
What other King would suffer and bleed and die for us?
Standing in the path of judgement, the righteous one.
A vision of humility, the Father’s only son.
You draw us in, invite us to the Holy place.
You forgive our sin, and hold us in your loving grace.
How to comprehend, how to understand this love?
What other King would suffer and bleed and die for us?
Day after day.
Time after time
We come to drink from the fruit of the vine.
Your body like a broken window for the world to see.
Your blood poured out from the vineyards of mercy.
