Full-Time | Seventeen Mile Rocks

This is a season of growth, faith and forward movement for our church community. Life groups are deepening, young people are finding Jesus, our community is being served, and our vision to be a family embracing the Father's presence, releasing empowered people who declare and demonstrate Christ's Kingdom is being lived out week by week across everything we do.

As we step further into that vision, we're looking for a Spiritual Life Pastor to help shape what comes next. This is a significant, newly formed leadership role that brings together worship and prayer, spiritual formation and discipleship, and church planting under one leader with the theological depth and relational intelligence to hold them together and move them forward.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This isn't a role for someone who wants to run the day-to-day. It's a role for someone who wants to develop the people who do. You'll provide strategic and theological oversight across three streams that sit at the very heart of who we are as a church, and your primary focus will be identifying, forming and releasing leaders to carry that work with excellence and conviction.

Across worship and prayer, you'll shape the culture and develop the leaders who carry our corporate gatherings with theological integrity and spiritual life. Across spiritual formation and discipleship, you'll design and oversee a pathway that takes people from first encounter with Jesus all the way through to becoming mature, reproducing disciples. Across church planting and missional communities, you'll begin building the pipeline of people and culture that positions Riverlife to multiply outward into places with no vibrant gospel community.

Riverlife Baptist Church is a thriving, multi-generational church based in Seventeen Mile Rocks in Brisbane's western suburbs. We are a warm, active and deeply committed church family of around 2,500 people, shaped by a genuine love for Jesus, a heart for our community and a conviction that the local church is one of the most important things in the world.

ABOUT YOU

You are someone who has been around long enough to know that real ministry is slow, patient and deeply relational. You lead from a place of personal devotion, not just professional competence, and the people around you know it. You think strategically but stay close to the ground. You are as comfortable developing an emerging worship leader over coffee as you are framing a discipleship pathway at a leadership table.

You bring at least five years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience, theological training at an undergraduate level, and a demonstrated capacity to develop leaders and design formation processes that actually produce fruit. You have a track record of working across diverse teams and ministry portfolios, and you hold things together without needing to control everything. You are humble enough to resource others, hungry enough to keep looking for what's next, and relationally smart enough to read the room.

You are someone who takes the local church seriously, which means you'll be all in at Riverlife, not just employed by it.
