“Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows.” Ezekiel 47:9
There has always been a calling on our church to prepare for future generations and build a legacy that will tell of God’s greatness for years to come.
This season of our journey is no different, as we press in to God’s call to pursue His presence and equip and empower followers to serve and proclaim Him wherever they go.
It has never been about a building or location, but about planting ourselves by streams of living water to bless and strengthen the communities around us.
On March 29, 1966, a small group of people met and agreed that God was leading them to plant a new church in the Kenmore area. Subsequently, six families moved from Moore Park Baptist Church and began meeting in homes in the Kenmore area.
These seeds of life grew, and Kenmore Baptist Church (KBC) grew out of Brookfield Hall where they met on Sundays and the church purchased two and a half acres of land at Kenmore in 1973. The small congregation of around 40 people moved into what was known as the Upstairs Hall.
In the 1980s, the decision was made to expand the facility – a huge step of adventurous faith for the size of the congregation at the time! Since that time, the church has experienced significant growth and is now a large, regional church influencing the greater western suburbs of Brisbane.
Throughout the years, every move and every change has always been made for new generations to find life in Jesus.
In 2005, through the sacrificial giving of many people and the miraculous provision of God, we purchased 5.2 hectares of land in Seventeen Mile Rocks. As part of the process of transitioning from Kenmore to Seventeen Mile Rocks, the church officially changed its name to Riverlife Baptist Church in January 2017.
After many years of hard work, we were delighted to officially open the current campus in Jennifer Street in July 2017. Since then, we have seen many newcomers to our regular Sunday services and have expanded our weekly programs and activities to cater for all ages.
Above all, our heart remains the same – to passionately pursue God, plant ourselves firmly in His Word and tell all we can about the Good News of Jesus Christ!
