A BIT ABOUT ME
I grew up in Roma in rural Queensland, going to church both Saturday (with my Seventh-Day-Adventist Dad) and Sunday (to the Uniting Church with Mum), so when I moved to Brisbane for university and joined my older sister at a Baptist church (KBC, now Riverlife), I had to figure out who Jesus really is, and how ‘church’ fits with faith. It was at KBC that I met my husband, Carl, and we have two wonderful children. I love reading, coffee dates and sleeping. Not necessarily in that order!
MOST DEFINING MOMENT
My sister used to have a sign hanging in her kitchen that said ‘But first, Coffee’. It has taken me far too long to learn that ‘But first, God’ is a much better plan. Matthew 6:33 is one verse I keep coming back to. All my ‘aha’ moments have come after surrendering my will to His – you’d think I would know by now to just start there, but I still seem to always take the long way round! I’ve seen so many answers to prayer in my life – God always makes a way.
WHY I DO IT
For a lot of my life I wasn’t particularly obedient to God. As I get older, my hunger to go deeper with Him is growing, and the opportunity to serve our community through this church, in this season, feels like a genuine step of obedience. What motivates me most is watching people discover their place in God’s kingdom — seeing them step into the gifts God has given them and use those gifts to bless the people around them.
OUR
TEAM
We are a diverse bunch, but unified in our love for God and people.
