WORSHIP

RECORDING 2026

“seeking God’s face and permanent presence … regardless of the cost, and regardless of what others think.”

RECORDING OUR SOUND

On 16 August 2026 we are excited to be recording five original worship songs during our morning and evening services. Along with the release of The Lamb Is Worthy earlier this year, this small collection of songs is the first ever original project that will be recorded and released under Riverlife Worship, and we can’t wait to sing them together!

While this marks an exciting new chapter in our church’s worship ministry and expression, it is only possible thanks to the prayers, dreams and efforts of so many who have gone before us and built a prophetic legacy of authentic creative expression that seeks and values the presence of God above all else.

THE HEART BEHIND

All the way back in 2001, then Senior Pastor Ric Benson prophesied that our church would “have as their consuming passion... seeking God’s face and permanent presence both personally and corporately, regardless of the cost, and regardless of what others think.” A decade later in 2011 when David Wagner was visiting for YA Maxx Camp, he prophesied that “there is a sound coming, a sound that will release the wind of worship... many will not come for a sermon they’ll come for a sound... will you trust me with the new sound?”

Through the years, this love for the presence of God and the emergence of the ‘new sound’ have characterised our church. We have a rich history of creatives, worshippers and songwriters that have brought authentic and beautiful offerings before the Lord and our congregation. I remember growing up at KBC singing the new songs that Jona, Nick, Scott and Annie had been writing.... songs like Vineyards of Mercy, Tapestry and Faithful God to name just a few. While none of these songs were released, they each continued the legacy of the ‘new sound’ in our church, gathering the people of God around a pure offering that drew our eyes upwards to behold the Lord and challenged us to pursue His presence in its fullness. In my mind, these songs embodied exactly who our church was called to be, and this is still true today. In fact, 11 years after it was written, we still have a photo of the Faithful God lyrics hanging in our Back of House area at Riverlife.

THE JOURNEY + YOU

Across the last year and a half, a small but faithful songwriting team have been obediently seeking the Lord for this new sound. Through many late nights of brainstorming, one chaotic songwriting retreat, and countless hours of rehearsals and practice, we have finally landed on five songs that we believe are both from God and for God.

We really believe that these songs are not just the product of individual writers, the fulfilment of a human dream, or something we are doing just for the fun of it. Rather, we are honoured that this humble offering in 2026 is but the next step in a legacy that has existed long before us, and we pray will continue long after.

These are songs that we believe are a reflection of who God has called us to be; songs that challenge us to pursue his presence no matter the cost; songs that celebrate His goodness and faithfulness; and most importantly, songs that bring Him glory, adoration, exaltation and reverence.

We can’t wait to sing them with you all on Sunday 16 August 2026! You can listen to some of our rehearsal recordings below.
