PENTECOST:

FIRE & BREATH

The Spirit refines the church to send the church.

"Fire and Breath" is a two-part series leading into Pentecost, that builds organically on the four-week "Alive in the Spirit" series. Rather than treating Pentecost as an isolated historical event, this series positions the giving of the Spirit at Pentecost as the culmination and launch point of everything the congregation has been learning about the Spirit's indwelling, empowerment, gifting, and fruit-bearing. The series anchors the church in the ecclesial reality that Pentecost is not simply a commemorative date, it is the ongoing reality in which the church continues to live and minister.

The Big Idea:

The Spirit refines the church to send the church. Pentecost is the launching of a continuous mission in which believers grow deeper through the Spirit's refining fire and serve together through the Spirit's sending breath. Growing deeper and serving together are not sequential steps; they are the rhythm of the Spirit-empowered life.

REFINED BY FIRE

Centred on Acts 2 and the imagery of fire throughout Scripture, this message explores how Pentecost was not a one-off event but the ongoing reality Christians still inhabit, where the Holy Spirit refines and purifies God's people for His mission. The invitation is to willingly embrace God's refining presence by laying down personal agendas and mixed motives, receiving that process not as punishment but as liberation.

BREATH FOR MISSION

Tracing the Hebrew word ruach through creation, Ezekiel's valley of dry bones, and the upper room at Pentecost, this message explores how the breath of God finds us, fills us, and sends us out on mission. The invitation is to locate yourself in one of three movements, whether you are in the valley needing revival, in the room hungry for more of God's presence, or on the street carrying the good news outward, and to receive the Spirit's work right where you stand.
